Designing Meaningful Learning: A Workshop on Lesson Planning
A workshop on "The Art of Effective Lesson Planning" was organised at Jagat Taran Golden Jubilee School, Prayagraj, on 29 June 2026, under the guidance of Mrs. Dolly Banerjee, Principal, Jagat Taran Golden Jubilee School. The session was effectively conducted by Ms. Rupa Mitra (Senior Coordinator) and Mrs. Smita Samaddar (Middle Section Coordinator) with the objective of equipping teachers with innovative and learner-centred approaches to lesson planning.
The workshop was conducted in two phases. The first session was held for the Primary and Middle Section teachers, followed by a session for the Senior Section faculty. The resource persons highlighted the importance of a well-structured, child-centred, and competency-based lesson plan that promotes active learning and meaningful classroom engagement.
The session focused on the essential components of an effective lesson plan, including previous knowledge, learning objectives, concept explanation, activities and demonstrations, recapitulation, closure, homework, and effective time management for the smooth execution of each lesson.
To make the workshop interactive, the facilitators conducted innovative activities and collaborative tasks that encouraged teachers to explore creative teaching strategies and design engaging classroom experiences. The importance of experiential learning, competency-based education, and reflective teaching practices was also emphasised.
Overall, the workshop was highly informative and enriching. It provided teachers from the Primary, Middle, and Senior Sections with practical strategies and valuable insights to design effective lesson plans, reinforcing the school's commitment to quality education and continuous professional development.
